11 APR, YORK

On July 9, 1984, York Minster, the city’s a Gothic masterpiece, suffered a devastating fire causing extensive damage to its south transept. The blaze broke out in the early hours of the morning and was later determined to have been caused by a lightning strike during a violent thunderstorm. The fire engulfed the roof of the south transept, reducing its centuries-old wooden beams to ashes and destroying many historic artefacts. Storms and fires and restoration are at the core of our poem and we are thrilled to bring it to this historic city.
