
Penzance and its surrounding areas are integral to Cornwall’s rich poetic tradition. Charles Causley, one of Cornwall’s great 20th-century poets, celebrated the county’s landscapes and maritime heritage. While he wasn’t specifically from Penzance, the town contributes to the regional identity that Causley and other Cornish poets, such as Jack Clemo, have immortalised in verse. Do we dare mention the pirates?
