A
JOURNEY
IN 31 CANTOS
NOTES ON THE TEXT
Standby. Tonight. 7:30. That is all. Take my hand, let me lead you to a place of ash where you shall find nothing but that which remains… 18-11-25 Coming out of the dark to a terminal near you this Tuesday evening at 7:30… On the 18th November 1987 a fire broke out in the Underground station at London’s King’s Cross claiming the lives of 31 people. One unidentified victim, burned beyond all recognition, was known, for over 20 years, as ‘Body 115’, the mortuary tag they were assigned. King’s Cross (formerly Battle Bridge) was the also the site where Boudicca’s rebel army confronted the Roman garrison, setting Londinium ablaze and reducing it to ashes. In a season of ghosts and bonfires… A poem of signals… transmitted over the usual channels… assume your positions and when the hour comes you shall be given further instruction… On the anniversary of the King’s Cross fire… Coming soon… A performance at an undisclosed location. I can comfirm it will take place somewhere along Latitude 50.3522 In Penzance on Sunday… Coming to York this Friday… Keeping poetry analogue. I took a poem to Milan and it looked like this… London, York and Penzance in my sights…. It’s not about inhabiting the work, it’s about letting the work inhabit you… Poetry is pointing one way and looking the other… It could get ugly but who said poetry was supposed to be pretty… Revisiting old ghosts in Milan… Revisiting old ghosts in Milan… Summoning the spirits of Halloween… Going home to Milan… ‘Dove il teatro incontra la poesia’ ★★★★ It happens that I arrive in the rain…
